India Honors Maritime Guardians for Protecting Essential Energy Resources

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has praised the bravery of Indian seafarers operating the LPG carriers Shivalik and Nanda Devi, which successfully traversed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz during a period of increased regional tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime chokepoint, facilitates the passage of approximately 20% of the worlds oil trade. Recent geopolitical developments in the region have raised concerns about safety and navigation in this critical waterway. The swift and secure passage of these vessels highlights the professionalism and resilience of Indian maritime personnel in challenging circumstances.

Minister Sonowal emphasized the significance of maintaining Indias maritime trade routes and the vital role of seafarers in ensuring energy security. He expressed gratitude for their commitment and courage, which contribute to the nations economic interests. The Indian maritime sector continues to prioritize safety and training for its seafarers, especially in high-risk areas.
