Indias Defence Exports Increase by 63% in One Year, Reaching a Record ₹38,400 Crore
Indias defence exports have seen a remarkable increase, soaring by 63% over the previous year to reach a record ₹38,400 crore (approximately $4.6 billion). This surge marks a significant milestone for the countrys defence sector and reinforces Indias growing presence in the global arms market amid various geopolitical conflicts.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced these figures recently, highlighting the success of Indias initiatives aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and enhancing the countrys defence capabilities. The rise in exports is attributed to the governments commitment to promoting Make in India initiatives and establishing India as a reliable supplier in the international defence market.
Notably, India has focused on developing indigenous defence products and technologies, which has not only bolstered export figures but has also aimed to reduce reliance on imported military equipment. The government has instituted various policies and reforms to support local defence manufacturers, streamline procurement processes, and foster collaborations between public and private sectors.
As a result, India is now the fourth largest defence exporter globally, with key markets including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The countrys defence exports encompass a wide array of equipment, including missiles, drones, naval vessels, and small arms.
Amid ongoing regional tensions and global security challenges, Indias growing defence export capabilities are anticipated to play a pivotal role in international military partnerships.
