Roundtable Advocates for 50% Allocation of KG Basin Gas to Andhra Pradesh
Participants in a recent meeting called upon Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to advocate for Andhra Pradeshs rightful share of funds from the Central Government, referencing the recommendations of the 12th Finance Commission.
The 12th Finance Commission, established in 2002 and functioning until 2005, aimed to assess the financial needs of states and suggest measures to enhance the financial health of state governments across India. The Commission made various recommendations regarding resource allocation, fiscal management, and the sharing of revenues between the Centre and the states.
In light of the ongoing financial challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh, the participants emphasized the importance of securing adequate state funding to support development projects and welfare programs. They urged the Chief Minister to prioritize discussions with the Central Government to ensure that the states financial entitlements, as outlined by the Finance Commission, are honored. This call for action comes amidst growing concerns about the fiscal autonomy and sustainability of state finances in India.
