IUML Focuses on Youth Engagement in Kerala Assembly Elections 2026
In a significant shift from prior expectations, the party has opted to introduce 11 new candidates for the upcoming election, moving away from its strategy of retaining the bulk of its 15 incumbent Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), whose average age exceeds 63 years. Among the newly nominated candidates are six young leaders, aimed at energizing the partys appeal to a younger demographic. Additionally, the party has included two female candidates and one non-Muslim candidate, reflecting a move towards increased diversity in its representation. This restructuring indicates the partys intent to refresh its leadership and expand its outreach ahead of the election. Further details regarding the candidates backgrounds and the partys overall electoral strategy are expected to be released in the coming days.
