Stalin Critiques CBSEs New Curriculum as Linguistic Imposition Rather Than Academic Reform

DMK Chief M.K. Stalin has criticized the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for what he describes as an aggressive centralizing agenda that prioritizes the Hindi language. Stalin argues that this approach undermines India’s diverse linguistic heritage, which includes hundreds of languages spoken across various regions of the country.

He contends that the governments promotion of Hindi under the pretense of supporting “Indian languages” serves to marginalize other regional languages, potentially diminishing their importance and usage in education, administration, and public life.

India is home to 22 officially recognized languages and thousands of dialects, reflecting its cultural richness. Experts have warned that an overemphasis on Hindi could lead to linguistic homogenization and adversely affect minority language speakers. Critics echo Stalins concerns, suggesting that language policies should promote multilingualism and preserve the country’s cultural diversity.
