Telangana Budget 2026-27: Allocations for Agriculture, Irrigation, and Energy Sectors Maintained

In the latest budget announcement, the allocation for the Agriculture sector has been reduced to ₹23,179 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27 from the previous years allocation of ₹24,439 crore. This change comes despite the sectors strong performance, which has seen significant growth in productivity and contributions to the overall economy.

The agriculture sector plays a crucial role in Indias GDP, providing employment to a large portion of the population and contributing to food security. Analysts have noted that this funding reduction may impact various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, research in crop development, and supporting farmers in adopting modern practices.

Government officials did not provide detailed justifications for the cuts, but they indicated a need to reallocate funds to other areas, possibly in response to emerging priorities or economic pressures. Stakeholders in the agriculture industry are urged to engage with policymakers to advocate for the importance of sustained investment in this vital sector to ensure continued growth and resilience.
