Indian Navy Provides Escort for LPG Vessel Green Asha in Strait of Hormuz

The Indian Navy has successfully escorted the Indian LPG vessel, Green Asha, through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. This marks the ninth ship supported by the Navy in its mission to ensure security and safe passage for commercial vessels in the region, which is a vital maritime route for global oil trade.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and is one of the world’s most crucial chokepoints for maritime trade, with a significant percentage of the worlds petroleum passing through it. The Indian Navy’s presence in the area serves to bolster maritime security and reassure shipping companies of their safety while navigating this critical waterway.

This latest escort operation underscores Indias commitment to enhancing maritime security and cooperation with regional partners. The Navy has been undertaking several such missions, particularly in response to rising tensions and incidents of piracy in international waters.
