DGCA Temporarily Adjusts Pilot Flight Duty Time Limits for Long-Haul Flights

On April 7, Asangba Chuba Ao, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, addressed the impact of ongoing airspace restrictions imposed by several countries, which have led to significant disruptions in global aviation networks. Despite these challenges, Indian carriers have successfully continued operations from affected regions, demonstrating both resilience and operational flexibility.

In light of the current situation, Ao announced that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has temporarily relaxed the regulations regarding pilot flight duty time for long-haul flights. This decision aims to mitigate potential crew shortages and ensure the uninterrupted service of airlines during this critical period.

The relaxation comes as the aviation industry grapples with the ongoing effects of geopolitical tensions and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have collectively strained air travel resources.
