Mamata Claims Deletion of Names from Post-SIR Voter Rolls for Matua and Minority Communities

During a recent rally in Chakdaha, located in Nadia district, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee pledged support for individuals whose names were omitted from the voter rolls. This announcement comes in the context of the Special Intensive Revision exercise undertaken by the Election Commission, aimed at updating and correcting the electoral rolls in preparation for upcoming elections.

Banerjee emphasized the importance of ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in the democratic process. She highlighted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will actively work to assist those affected by the exclusion and urged party members to reach out to disenfranchised voters in their communities.

The Special Intensive Revision exercise, which occurred recently, aimed to enhance the accuracy of voter registration amid ongoing discussions about electoral integrity and accessibility. In her address, Banerjee also called for vigilance in safeguarding the rights of voters, reinforcing the TMCs commitment to inclusivity in the electoral process.
