KDA Proposes Inclusion of 27 Minor State Languages as Third-Language Option in Schools

A new educational proposal has been introduced to expand the language curriculum within the States schools. In addition to Tulu and Konkani, which are currently being taught, the initiative aims to incorporate several minority languages. Among the proposed additions are Kodava, Yarava, Badaga, Arebhashe, and Koraga languages, allowing students to learn a third language that reflects the regions diverse cultural heritage.

This initiative highlights the States commitment to preserving and promoting its linguistic diversity, recognizing the importance of minority languages in enriching the educational experience. The inclusion of these languages may provide students with greater cultural awareness and community connection, as well as better opportunities in an increasingly globalized world.

Further discussions and consultations are expected as policymakers evaluate the implementation of this proposal and its impact on both the education system and local communities.
