CAG Reports Significant Violations in Visakhapatnam Rushikonda Resort Project, Expenditure Increases to ₹350 Crore

A recent audit conducted by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has revealed significant lapses in the redevelopment of the Rushikonda resort in Andhra Pradesh. The audit report highlighted the absence of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and a lack of judicial oversight during the projects planning and execution phases.

Additionally, the project, initially estimated to cost ₹164 crore, has seen a substantial increase in budget, now totaling ₹350 crore under the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) administration. This escalation in costs raises concerns regarding fiscal management and project oversight.

The CAGs findings point to possible shortcomings in compliance with established project guidelines and governance standards. As a result, stakeholders are calling for a thorough investigation to assess the implications of these lapses on project implementation and accountability. Further developments are awaited as the state government responds to the audits conclusions.
