Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Emphasizes Protection of Voter Rights Amid Assembly Elections
The Election Commission of India has officially completed the first randomization process of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) in the regions of Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. This process is an essential step in ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process ahead of the upcoming elections.
Randomization involves the selection of EVMs and VVPATs in a manner that is free from human intervention, thereby fostering confidence in the electoral system among voters and political stakeholders. The completion of this process signifies that the machines are now ready to be deployed across polling stations in these states.
This step is part of the Election Commissions broader strategy to enhance the reliability of the electoral process, incorporating measures such as increased surveillance and stringent security protocols. Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry were chosen for this initial randomization as part of the Commissions efforts to standardize election procedures nationwide.
The Election Commission will continue to monitor the deployment and functioning of EVMs and VVPATs, ensuring they adhere to all regulatory guidelines as the election period approaches.
