Hyderabad Receives Fixed Allocation in 2026-27 Budget Despite Regions Expansion
The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 indicates only slight modifications in financial allocations following the rebranding of the tri-corporation area to the Core Urban Region. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) budget remains largely unchanged, with significant portions of the funding earmarked for infrastructure development projects.
However, there has been a notable reduction in financial provisions for disaster response initiatives, as well as for the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) and the Heritage Authoritys projects. This shift in budget priorities may reflect a strategic focus on enhancing urban infrastructure to support the growing population and economic development within the Core Urban Region.
The Core Urban Region encompasses several key districts and is expected to play a vital role in the regionsurban planning and development over the coming years. Stakeholders and residents alike will be closely monitoring the implementation of these budgetary allocations, particularly the anticipated impact on transportation and preservation of cultural heritage within the area.
