Kerala State Electricity Board Proposes TAM Option Amid Rising Consumption, Awaits Regulatory Approval
The power utility has put forward a proposal to establish an institutional framework designed to enhance short-term power procurement during unexpected contingencies. This framework includes the formation of an apex committee and an operational committee, which will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the procurement process.
The apex committee will focus on strategic decision-making and policy guidance, ensuring that procurement aligns with regional energy needs and regulatory standards. Meanwhile, the operational committee will manage day-to-day operations related to power procurement, including negotiations with suppliers and coordination with grid operators to ensure a reliable supply of electricity during emergencies.
This initiative comes in response to growing concerns over power shortages and the need for a more agile and responsive approach to energy management, particularly in light of increased demand and the unpredictabilities associated with climate change. Such measures are expected to improve the overall resilience of the power supply system and safeguard consumers from potential service disruptions.
