Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called on the government to implement the Womens Reservation Act of 2023 based on the current composition of the Lok Sabha. The Womens Reservation Act, which aims to reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies for women, was passed to promote gender parity in Indian politics.

Vadra’s demand reflects ongoing discussions about the representation of women in governance, as only a small percentage of parliamentary seats are currently occupied by women. As of October 2023, women constitute approximately 14% of the Lok Sabha.
