Census Portal Lists Chinese Name for Arunachal Pradesh Town; Officials Confirm Resolution of Issue

A resident of Pasighat, located in Arunachal Pradesh, has raised concerns regarding the recently released map for self-enumeration related to the forthcoming 2027 Census. The resident pointed out that the map inaccurately depicts the name of a Chinese town situated beyond the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in proximity to his hometown.

This issue highlights ongoing tensions regarding border delineations between India and China, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, which both countries claim in parts. The LAC serves as the de facto border, but it remains a contentious point in Indo-China relations. The 2027 Census is significant as it will mark the first comprehensive demographic survey post-COVID-19, and any inaccuracies in the census materials could have implications for local representation and resource allocation.

Officials have been urged to review the map and address any discrepancies to ensure accurate representation of Indian territory in the upcoming census.
