Naidu Advocates for High-Demand, High-Value Crops to Enhance Farmers Incomes
In a recent initiative aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and economic growth, the Chief Minister has announced an ambitious plan to expand horticultural practices across the region. The target set is to cultivate 50 lakh acres (approximately 5 million acres) specifically for horticultural development.
In addition to this, the Chief Minister has proposed the establishment of a pioneering Cocoa City, which will occupy 250 acres. This Cocoa City is envisioned as a dedicated area for the cultivation and processing of cocoa, intended to boost the local economy and create new job opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Horticulture, which includes the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and ornamental plants, plays a crucial role in diversifying agricultural products and improving farmers incomes. The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of value addition in agriculture, particularly in regions where traditional farming may face challenges.
The implementation of these plans is expected to involve collaboration with agricultural experts, the private sector, and farmers associations to ensure effective execution and sustainability. Further details regarding funding, timelines, and specific horticultural crops targeted for cultivation are anticipated in subsequent announcements by the state government.
