Census 2027: States Urged to Identify At-Risk Areas and Ensure Objective Enumerator Selection
Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, a representative from the Ranchi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RG&CCI), has urged government officials to ensure that marginalized groups, particularly those impacted by communal, political, and social tensions, are accurately included in census data. He emphasized the importance of comprehensive data collection, expressing concern that any omissions could result in legal challenges in the future.
The call for accurate representation comes amid ongoing discussions regarding the socio-economic implications of the census, which serves as a critical tool for government planning and resource allocation. Vulnerable populations, such as marginalized communities and those affected by unrest, are often disproportionately impacted by policy decisions that rely on census data.
In light of these concerns, Narayan highlighted the need for targeted outreach efforts to guarantee that all individuals, regardless of their socio-economic background, have the opportunity to be counted. Accurate data is essential not only for equitable resource distribution but also for fostering social cohesion and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to tensions within communities.
As census preparations progress, the RG&CCI continues to advocate for inclusivity and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the voices of all segments of the population are heard and represented.
