AIKS Leader Claims Trade Deal with U.S. Impacts Farmers Interests

Farmers and tenant cultivators are reportedly experiencing a significant crisis, attributed to a series of flawed agricultural policies implemented by previous administrations, according to Ashok Dhawale, a prominent figure in the farming community.

Dhawale, who serves as the President of the All India Kisan Sabha, highlighted that inadequate support systems and inconsistent policy frameworks have exacerbated the challenges faced by those in the agricultural sector. This includes issues such as rising input costs, insufficient access to credit, and delayed implementation of loan waivers and compensation schemes.

Furthermore, the ongoing effects of climate change, dwindling natural resources, and market volatility have compounded these challenges, leading to increased stress among farmers and tenant cultivators. As a result, many are struggling to maintain sustainable livelihoods.

In light of this crisis, advocacy groups are calling for comprehensive reforms aimed at ensuring better financial security for farmers, improving supply chains, and enhancing access to technology and resources. The discourse surrounding agricultural policy reform continues to gain momentum as stakeholders seek to address the root causes of the current turmoil in the farming sector.
