PM Modi Affirms Governments Commitment to Act East, Act Fast Initiative for Northeast Development

During the closing ceremony of the celebrations commemorating the 50th anniversary of Sikkims statehood, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the governments commitment to enhancing connectivity in the region. He noted that improved transport and communication infrastructure is essential for fostering economic growth and increasing tourist inflow to Sikkim.

Sikkim, nestled in the northeastern part of India, became a state in 1975. It is renowned for its stunning landscapes, biodiversity, and vibrant culture. The state government has been working on various initiatives to promote sustainable tourism, which is a significant contributor to its economy. Enhanced connectivity through roads, railways, and air travel is expected to facilitate easier access for tourists, ultimately benefiting local businesses and communities.

In addition to tourism, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of connectivity for overall development, which includes better access to health care and education for residents. These development initiatives are part of a broader strategy to elevate Sikkims status as a key destination in Indias northeastern region.
