ADC Chief Urges Contractors to Improve Food and Accommodation for Workers
Lakshmi Parthasarathy, along with other officials, recently conducted a visit to labor camps housing migrant workers at the construction sites in Amaravati. During the visit, Parthasarathy expressed concerns regarding the inadequate provision of basic amenities for the workers living in these camps.
The officials observed that the facilities available to the migrant workers fell short of acceptable standards, particularly in areas such as sanitation, housing conditions, and access to clean drinking water. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to monitor and improve the living conditions of laborers involved in the construction of the new capital city of Amaravati, which has been a significant focus for regional development.
In response to the findings, local authorities are expected to review the current conditions and work collaboratively with construction firms to ensure that the rights and welfare of migrant workers are prioritized. These workers, who often come from various states in India, play a crucial role in the development projects and their well-being is essential for maintaining productivity and morale on construction sites.
