Kerala Pollution Control Board Develops Draft Oil Spill Response Plan

A company based in Bengaluru has presented a draft plan to the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), which outlines key components such as oil spill modeling, marine sensitivity index mapping, and a net environmental benefit analysis. This report has been submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) as part of the ongoing assessment of environmental impacts related to industry operations.

The oil spill modeling aims to predict the potential consequences of oil spills in marine environments, which is critical in forming strategies for response and mitigation. Marine sensitivity index mapping will identify areas that are particularly vulnerable to ecological damage, enabling targeted conservation efforts.
