NMC Removes Limit on MBBS Admission Numbers

The recent notification has lifted the previous restriction that allowed a maximum of 100 MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) seats per 10 lakh (1 million) population in each State or Union Territory.

This change aims to enhance medical education capacity across the country, addressing the growing demand for healthcare professionals. With the removal of this cap, states will have increased flexibility to establish more medical colleges and expand MBBS enrollment based on local healthcare needs and population growth.

This decision is part of a broader initiative to improve the healthcare infrastructure and ensure better access to medical education, particularly in underserved regions. The move is expected to contribute to the governments long-term goals of increasing the number of healthcare providers and improving overall healthcare delivery across India.
