Hundreds of Tribal and Farmer Groups Conduct March in Dahanu to Present Land Claims to Palghar District Office
Approximately 15,000 farmers from the Dahanu and Talasari tehsils in Palghar district participated in a recent march organized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). The demonstration aimed to draw attention to various issues affecting the agricultural community in the region, including land rights, fair pricing for crops, and access to resources.
The march reflects growing concerns among local farmers regarding agricultural policies and their impact on livelihood. Palghar district, known for its diverse agriculture, has faced challenges such as fluctuating market prices and environmental issues that affect crop yields. The CPI(M) has been actively advocating for farmer rights and sustainable agricultural practices, emphasizing the need for government intervention to address these pressing concerns.
Local officials did not provide immediate comments on the event, but such large mobilizations are often indicative of the increasing activism among rural communities in Maharashtra. It remains to be seen how this demonstration will influence policy discussions and agricultural reforms in the state.
