The Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. It has been the site of numerous reconstructions following periods of destruction. The temple was first rebuilt after India gained independence, with its inauguration on December 11, 1951, led by then-President Rajendra Prasad. The Prime Minister’s remarks serve to honor the legacy of those who contributed to the temples enduring significance in Indian culture and spirituality.
