Minister Aadhav Arjuna Affirms Continuation of Tamil Thaai Vazhthu and National Anthem Practices
In Tamil Nadu, the state government, led by the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), has expressed its opposition to the decision to designate “Tamil Thai Vazhthu,” a revered Tamil anthem, as the third song in official events. The government officials believe that such a change undermines the significance and cultural importance of the song in the Tamil community.
“Tamil Thai Vazhthu,” composed by Manonmaniam Sundaram Pillai, is traditionally sung at various cultural and educational gatherings, especially in schools and government functions, emphasizing Tamil identity and pride. The state government is advocating for the song to maintain its esteemed position as an integral part of Tamil heritage.
This stance reflects a broader sentiment within Tamil Nadu regarding the preservation of the Tamil language and culture, which has been a focal point in state politics. The government may seek to mobilize public support to address what they consider a depersonalization of Tamil cultural expressions in official settings. Further discussions or actions regarding this matter may occur in upcoming legislative sessions.
