APSPDCL to Implement Prepaid Smart Meters for Government Services Starting June 1
The implementation of a prepaid metering system is expected to encompass approximately 117,000 services. This includes 91,306 single-phase services and 26,507 three-phase services.
Prepaid metering is designed to allow consumers to pay for their electricity usage in advance, offering them more control over their energy consumption and expenses. This system has gained traction in various regions due to its potential to reduce outages and enhance energy efficiency.
The rollout of this system will likely benefit a diverse range of consumers, from residential households to small and medium-sized enterprises, by providing them with clearer visibility into their electricity usage and budgeting. Authorities overseeing the roll-out have highlighted the importance of user education and support to ensure a smooth transition to this new metering framework.
