Bumrah and Jadeja Miss AFG Series; Prince Yadav Receives First National Team Call-Up

India has officially announced its squads for the upcoming one-off Test match and One Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan. Notably, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the duration of the series.

Star players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have been included in the ODI squad; however, the participation of Rohit and fellow all-rounder Hardik Pandya is contingent upon their fitness evaluations prior to the matches.

In a significant development, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain for both the Test and ODI formats, indicating a shift towards youth leadership within the team. Among the squad selections, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, and Prince Yadav are notable new inclusions, showcasing Indias focus on emerging talent as they prepare for the matches.

The one-off Test is scheduled to take place before the ODI series, providing the team with an opportunity to assess player performance in both formats against an evolving Afghan side. The matches will contribute to Indias preparation for upcoming international tournaments, including the ICC Mens Cricket World Cup.
