Gill and Team to Modify Home Pitch Strategy Following Five Consecutive Losses

Following disappointing performances in recent home Test matches against New Zealand and South Africa, the Indian cricket team is reportedly shifting its approach to pitch preparation. The team aims to move away from heavily turning tracks and return to more traditional pitches that exhibit gradual wear and tear throughout the course of the match.

To implement this strategy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to select venues that feature carefully chosen black and mixed soil surfaces, which are expected to provide a more balanced playing field for both spin and pace bowlers.

Indias next challenge will come in the form of a one-off Test match against Afghanistan, scheduled to take place from June 6, 2024. This match will provide an opportunity for the Indian team to test their revised strategy in preparation for future international competitions, including the upcoming ICC World Test Championship cycles. The decision comes as part of a broader effort to enhance the teams performance on home soil and improve their competitiveness against top-tier international sides.
