Piduguralla Records Temperature of 48.1°C, Second Highest in Andhra Pradesh Since 2016

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning indicating that a severe heatwave is expected to impact several districts in Andhra Pradesh on May 23 and 24. The affected areas include East Godavari, Konaseema, Eluru, West Godavari, NTR, Krishna, Palnadu, Guntur, Bapatla, Prakasam, and SPSR Nellore.

According to meteorological data, a heatwave is defined as a condition where the maximum temperature exceeds 40°C in plains and 30°C in hilly regions, with a rise of 4.5°C above normal temperatures. Residents in the affected districts are advised to take necessary precautions, which may include staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours, and using appropriate protective clothing.

Heatwave conditions can pose serious health risks, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Authorities have encouraged communities to stay informed through local weather updates and prepare for the intense heat in the coming days.
