Delhi University to Utilize GATE Scores for MTech Admissions for the First Time

The University of Delhi will introduce a new admission criterion for its Master of Technology (MTech) program in Microwave and Communication Engineering by accepting scores from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for the first time. This decision is significant as it marks the incorporation of a national engineering entrance exam into the admission process for a postgraduate course at the university.

Under this new policy, candidates who have qualified for GATE will be given priority in the admissions process, ensuring that those with proven engineering capabilities are considered first. If there are any remaining open seats after the GATE-qualified candidates have been accommodated, the university will then consider scores from the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate (CUET-PG) for the remaining admissions.

This change reflects an evolving approach to postgraduate admissions at the University of Delhi, particularly for specialized technical programs. It aims to enhance the quality of candidates and align the universitys standards with national benchmarks in engineering education. The GATE exam, conducted jointly by the IITs and IISc, is regarded as a rigorous assessment of a candidates understanding of engineering subjects, which may contribute to a stronger academic environment within the program.
