UPSC Prelims 2026 Conducted Nationwide with Enhanced Security Measures
This year, a total of 819,372 candidates have registered for the 2026 Civil Services Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The examination aims to fill approximately 933 vacancies across various civil services in India, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
The UPSC CSE is one of the most competitive examinations in India, attracting a diverse pool of candidates from various educational backgrounds. Aspiring candidates often undergo extensive preparation, and the examination process consists of three stages: the Preliminary examination, the Main examination, and the Personality Test (Interview).
The preliminary examination is typically conducted in June, followed by the main examination later in the year, while the interviews are held in the following months. Given the significant number of candidates this year, the competition for available positions is expected to be intense.
