APEPDCL Achieves Record Low Distribution Loss of 5.61% for 2025-26

I. Prudhvitej, the Chairman and Managing Director of Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (EPDCL), has announced an ambitious target to reduce the distribution loss to 5% by the fiscal year 2026-27. This announcement follows a significant milestone achieved by the utility, which recorded its lowest-ever distribution loss of 5.61% in the previous financial year, 2025-26.

In his statement, Prudhvitej emphasized that achieving this goal will depend on several strategic initiatives, including the implementation of smart metering technology, comprehensive energy auditing practices, and enhanced accountability for electricity feeders. Smart metering, which enables real-time monitoring and reporting of energy use, is particularly crucial in minimizing losses and improving operational efficiency.

The EPDCLs continuous efforts to reduce distribution losses are part of a broader initiative to improve the reliability and quality of power supply in the region, ultimately benefiting consumers and promoting sustainable energy practices. Reduction of distribution losses is not only financially advantageous for the utility but also contributes to the overall enhancement of the power sectors health and sustainability in Andhra Pradesh.

As the utility moves forward with its plans, stakeholders in the energy sector will be observing closely to see how these initiatives are implemented and their impact on service delivery to residents and businesses in the area.
