Bihar Government Announces Plan to Provide Piped Drinking Water to Remaining Mahadalit Tolas Within Three Months
In 2016, approximately 266,000 families had access to piped drinking water. This figure has seen a substantial increase, reaching about 18.7 million families by 2026. The government has set an ambitious target to further enhance this access by providing piped drinking water to 20.2 million families in rural areas.
This increase reflects ongoing efforts to improve water supply infrastructure and ensure that more households receive safe drinking water directly from pipelines. These initiatives are part of broader public health and development strategies aimed at reducing waterborne diseases and improving quality of life in rural communities. The advancements also underline the commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
