CBSE Confirms Containment of Vulnerabilities in OnMark Portal Following Security Concerns

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a statement in response to allegations made by 19-year-old ethical hacker Nisarga Adhikary. Mr. Adhikary has claimed that he successfully hacked into the CBSEs digital evaluation system. He further asserted that the personal information of students was being processed through Google’s Gemini, utilizing automated scripts developed by quality assurance engineers at COEMPT (Centre of Excellence in Education Management and Professional Training).

The CBSE has not yet disclosed specific details regarding the alleged breach or the measures taken to protect the personal data of students. In light of these claims, the board is likely to reassess its cybersecurity protocols to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of its digital systems.

Cybersecurity breaches in educational institutions can lead to significant concerns about the safety of sensitive student data, prompting more robust security frameworks and ongoing monitoring efforts within the CBSE’s administrative processes. Both institutions and authorities might be scrutinizing the implications of such incidents as they work to safeguard against potential vulnerabilities in digital infrastructures.
