Centre and Tamil Nadu Government Sign MoU for Extension of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0
The Union Cabinet has approved an extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme until December 2028, aimed at providing functional household tap connections across rural areas in India. Following this approval, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to facilitate the continued implementation of the initiative.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched in 2019, primarily focuses on ensuring that every rural household has access to clean drinking water through functional tap connections. Since its inception, the scheme has made significant progress, with millions of households benefiting from improved water supply systems.
The extension of the JJM is expected to enhance efforts in achieving universal access to safe and sufficient drinking water for all rural residents, thereby contributing to the overall health and well-being of communities. The government aims to maintain momentum in fortifying infrastructure and promoting sustainability within the water supply sector.
