Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: CPI(M) and Congress Exchange Accusations Over Undermining LDF-UDF Duopoly by Supporting BJP

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has publicly criticized the national leadership of the Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of acting as a secondary ally to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This accusation has emerged in the context of heightened political tensions in the state and nationally, with Vijayan asserting that the Congresss actions inadvertently support the BJPs agenda.

In response, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal defended Rahul Gandhi, arguing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have found an “accomplice” in Vijayan to undermine Gandhi, who Venugopal claims is courageously resisting the influence of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its corporate allies.

This exchange reflects ongoing political rivalries as Kerala approaches the 2024 general elections. The Congress party has historically positioned itself as the main opposition to the BJP in various states, while the CPI(M), led by Vijayan, dominates Kerala’s political landscape. The remarks signal an intensifying battle for political narratives and voter support in the run-up to the elections.
