IMD announces arrival of Southwest monsoon in Andhra Pradesh
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that conditions are favorable for the further advancement of the southwest monsoon across the region in the next three to four days. Meanwhile, Pedaparupudi in the Krishna district and Kanigiri in Markapuram have experienced a heatwave, recording the highest temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius.
To address the rising temperatures, the IMD has issued a heatwave alert for coastal Andhra Pradesh, effective June 7 and 8. Citizens are advised to take precautions during this period, as the high temperatures could pose health risks, especially for vulnerable populations.
The onset of the monsoon typically brings relief from the heat and is crucial for agriculture, as it replenishes water supplies and supports the kharif crop season. The IMDs forecasts and warnings aim to help residents prepare for the anticipated weather changes and manage the effects of extreme temperatures effectively.
