Karnataka Travel Operators Request Clarification on Digital Compliance Requirements Following Amendments to CMV Rules
Recent amendments to transportation regulations require the installation and operation of several digital systems designed to enhance monitoring and safety measures for vehicles. These measures include the implementation of Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTDs) based on the AIS-140 standard, which provide real-time tracking capabilities.
Additionally, vehicles will be equipped with e-SIM connectivity to facilitate seamless communication and data transmission. The amendments also mandate the use of geo-tagged video inspections to ensure that vehicles meet safety standards. High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs), featuring advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting, are also part of the new requirements.
Furthermore, a digital data storage infrastructure will be established to securely store data collected from these systems, contributing to better regulation and management of vehicle information. These initiatives aim to improve road safety, reduce fraud, and enhance the overall efficiency of transportation systems. The implementation timeline and specific compliance measures are expected to be outlined in forthcoming guidelines from transportation authorities.
