Health Department to Implement AI Technology for Newborn Health Evaluations

The Shishu Maapan application is set to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) workers in monitoring vital health parameters for infants and young children. Currently, a pilot project is being conducted to assess the apps usability and effectiveness before it is rolled out statewide.

The Shishu Maapan app is designed to streamline data collection and facilitate real-time health tracking, enabling ASHA workers to efficiently record and manage health information regarding growth, development, and vaccination status of children. This technological advancement aims to improve maternal and child health outcomes by empowering community health workers with better tools for monitoring and reporting health data.

The pilot phase, which is occurring in select regions, involves training for ASHA workers on the apps functionalities, as well as gathering feedback to ensure it meets the needs of both health workers and the families they serve. Upon successful completion of the pilot, plans for a comprehensive rollout across the state are anticipated, potentially benefitting countless households and contributing to enhanced healthcare initiatives.
