Final Breakthrough Expected for Zojila Tunnel Connecting Kashmir and Kargil

**Kargil Tunnel Project: Minister Nitin Gadkari to Supervise Final Blasting**

Nitin Gadkari, the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, is set to supervise the final blasting operation of a significant tunnel project from the Kargil side on June 9. This 13.14-kilometer-long tunnel, which traverses the challenging terrain of the Himalayas at an elevation of 11,578 feet, aims to establish a crucial connection between the Kashmir Valley and Kargil in Ladakh.

The tunnel, part of the governments broader efforts to improve connectivity in the region, is anticipated to enhance economic development and tourism, while also providing strategic advantages in terms of defense and accessibility. The construction is part of the governments commitment to develop infrastructure in remote areas, which has become increasingly important in the context of national security and regional stability.

Once operational, the tunnel is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two regions, making transportation more efficient for both civilian and military purposes. The project reflects the ongoing investment in infrastructure aimed at fostering growth and accessibility in the northernmost regions of India.
