Calls for Increased Attention to Keralas Tourism Sector After Years of Neglect
A delegation led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CKTI) has called for the reinvestment of a minimum of 1% of total tourism revenue into the sector. The request aims to enhance development, marketing efforts, and infrastructure improvements within the industry.
The CKTI emphasized that such reinvestment is crucial for sustaining the growth and competitiveness of the tourism sector, which plays a significant role in the economy. In addition to bolstering local businesses, the delegation highlighted that increased funding could lead to better tourist experiences, improved transportation facilities, and upgraded attractions, ultimately benefiting both tourists and residents.
Tourism has emerged as a vital economic driver in many regions, contributing significantly to job creation and local revenue. The CKTIs proposal aligns with similar initiatives in other countries, where governments and organizations have recognized the importance of investing in tourism to address challenges such as seasonal fluctuations and infrastructure demands. The delegation is urging policymakers to consider its recommendations to foster a more resilient and thriving tourism economy.
