Indias Energy Supply Status: Assessment of LPG Coverage and Crude Oil Availability

Indian refiners have successfully secured ample supplies of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sufficient to meet demand through August and mid-July, respectively. This achievement has alleviated fears stemming from the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, which has created uncertainty in global oil markets.

Recent purchases include significant volumes of crude from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), as well as additional contributions from suppliers in Brazil and other regions, further strengthening Indias oil inventories. Additionally, India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are collaboratively working on expanding their strategic oil reserves, a move aimed at enhancing energy security for both nations in the face of fluctuating geopolitical conditions.

As the worlds third-largest oil importer, Indias proactive measures in securing energy supplies are crucial for maintaining stable fuel prices and ensuring uninterrupted supply chains for its burgeoning economy. The collaborative efforts with the UAE also highlight the deepening bilateral ties in the energy sector, positioning both countries to better navigate future supply challenges.
