Approximately 200 Tourists Stranded in Chungthang Due to Landslides in North Sikkim

Stranded visitors in Chungthang were provided overnight accommodation at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) camp and a local gurudwara.

Due to inclement weather conditions and blocked transportation routes, several travelers found themselves unable to continue their journey. The ITBP personnel, along with community volunteers from the gurudwara, stepped in to offer shelter and necessary amenities, ensuring the safety and comfort of the stranded individuals.

Chungthang, located in the northern part of Sikkim, is a popular transit point for tourists heading to various destinations in the region, including the picturesque Yumthang Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Efforts are currently underway to clear the blocked routes, and local authorities are monitoring the situation closely to facilitate the safe passage of visitors as conditions improve.
