Mysuru Citizen-Led Census Reports Over 121,000 Trees Documented

A public data portal is in development to provide residents and stakeholders with enhanced access to a comprehensive tree database. This initiative will allow users to search for trees based on specific wards or species, as well as report any concerns regarding tree health and maintenance.

The project aims to promote transparency and encourage community involvement in the management of urban forestry. Once fully established, the database will be transferred to the Mysuru City Corporation, serving as a dynamic record of the citys green infrastructure.

This effort aligns with broader goals of urban sustainability and environmental conservation, as municipalities increasingly recognize the importance of maintaining healthy tree populations for ecological balance, aesthetic appeal, and community well-being. The timeline for the launch of the portal and further functionalities will be announced by city officials as the project progresses.
