Over 10,000 Handloom Weavers in Andhra Pradesh Receive Assistance from NHDP

The Ministry of Textiles has announced that it will provide second-phase assistance for ongoing projects aimed at supporting the handloom sector. According to the Fourth All India Handloom Census conducted in 2020, Andhra Pradesh is home to 127,662 handloom weavers.

This initiative is part of the governments broader strategy to enhance the livelihoods of weavers and promote the handloom industry, which plays a significant role in India’s cultural heritage and economy. The second phase of aid is expected to focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving access to technology, and increasing market reach for handloom products. Since the handloom sector is crucial for employment and sustainable development in rural areas, the Ministry aims to ensure the long-term viability of this traditional craft while boosting the incomes of artisans across the region.
