Keralas Revenue Arrears Reach ₹41,188.44 Crore, According to Comptroller and Auditor Generals Report
As of the 2024-25 fiscal year, the total revenue arrears for the state have reached ₹12,951.77 crore, with a significant portion remaining unrealized for over five years. This amount constitutes 44.23% of the states projected own revenue, which is estimated at ₹93,128.81 crore for the upcoming fiscal period.
These arrears may include a variety of outstanding payments, such as taxes, fees, and other levies owed to the state government. The high percentage of unrealized revenue could pose challenges for the state budget, potentially impacting funding for public services and infrastructure projects. It also raises concerns regarding effective tax collection and the states financial management strategies.
Authorities might need to review and enhance revenue collection efforts, including implementing stricter compliance measures, improving administrative efficiency, and engaging with taxpayers to resolve outstanding dues. Addressing these arrears could help bolster the states financial health and contribute to economic stability in the region.
