R. Madhavan Awarded Padma Shri, Congratulates PM Modi; Alka Yagnik Receives Padma Bhushan

President Droupadi Murmu presented the remaining Padma Awards for 2026 at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various dignitaries. A total of 65 honorees were recognized for their exceptional contributions across diverse fields. Prominent awardees included renowned actor Mammootty and celebrated singer Alka Yagnik, who both received the Padma Bhushan, Indias second-highest civilian award.

Other noteworthy recipients included actor R. Madhavan and Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. Additionally, veteran actor Satish Shah was posthumously honored for his artistic achievements. This ceremony follows a previous event where actor Dharmendra received a posthumous Padma Vibhushan, Indias second-highest civilian award, in recognition of his long-standing contributions to Indian cinema.

The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honors awarded by the Government of India, with recipients chosen for their distinguished service in various fields such as arts, literature, public service, and sports.
