Public Accounts Committee Requests Report from Home Ministry on Great Nicobar Project

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) convened to examine the report submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) regarding the establishment and operational efficiency of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences.

This meeting aims to assess the financial management, infrastructural development, and overall effectiveness of the medical institute, which was established to enhance healthcare services in the region. The CAGs report outlines various findings and recommendations intended to improve governance and operational practices within the institution. The PACs review will contribute to accountability in public spending and ensure that healthcare needs in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are met effectively.

Established to provide medical education and health services in the remote island territory, the institute plays a critical role in addressing local healthcare challenges and is expected to serve a growing population. Further discussions by the PAC may lead to recommendations for policy improvements and resource allocation.
