Transit Air Travelers to Bypass Immigration at Connecting Airports Soon

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has announced the launch of a new facility aimed at enhancing the travel experience for transit passengers. This initiative allows passengers to complete immigration formalities at their departure airport rather than upon arrival at their destination. The facility was inaugurated at Varanasi Airport and is expected to be implemented at six additional airports across the country within a six-week period.

This move is part of the governments efforts to streamline air travel and reduce wait times for passengers during layovers. By enabling immigration procedures to be handled at the origin airport, travelers can enjoy a smoother transition when connecting to their next flight. The specific airports set to receive this service in the coming weeks have not yet been disclosed.

Minister Naidu emphasized that this facility is designed to improve efficiency and convenience for international travelers, thereby promoting a more seamless travel experience. It reflects the ongoing commitment of the Civil Aviation Ministry to enhance the overall infrastructure and facilities at Indian airports.
